This document outlines the 6-step framework designed by Tata to help you refine your thoughts into an actionable pitch.
💡 Summary of the 6-Step Idea Framework

  • Step 1: Narrow Your Focus – Look for everyday problems in how people work, travel, shop, or socialize. Alternatively, focus on transforming perceptions around sustainability, mental health, or core business practices.
  • Step 2: Find a Problem – Dive deep into a specific issue. Research why the problem exists and who it affects most.
  • Step 3: Test Your Idea – Run your proposed solution against the official Idea Checklist:
    • Is it truly innovative, original, and easy to understand?
    • Can it be executed realistically if you are given resources?
    • Is it profitable, and does a viable market exist for it?
    • Will it leave a measurable, positive impact on society or industry?
  • Step 4: Refine Your Strategy – Smooth out the operational details and prepare to answer potential corporate or structural objections.
  • Step 5: Prepare Your Pitch – Build a concise, compelling 2-minute video pitch. Structure your script around the Why (the necessity), the What (the idea summary), and the How (the mechanism and benefits).
  • Step 6: Share Your Idea – Complete your registration and submit your application on the Tata Unstop Page before the deadline.
