DCIP is a unique, unpaid, multi-disciplinary program offered by the District Administration of Kozhikode, designed to nurture compassionate and responsible civil society members. This program provides passionate young minds with an opportunity to experience the functioning of government machinery from within by bridging the gap between theory and practice.

 

Interns work on high-impact government projects across various departments, gaining invaluable experiences that enhance both their personal and professional lives. Selected from hundreds of applications nationwide, DCIP interns are mentored by professionals from diverse fields such as medicine, social entrepreneurship, and more.

 

Key Highlights:
This first-of-its-kind initiative fosters participatory governance through impactful programs like Compassionate Kozhikode, Operation Sulaimani, Campuses of Kozhikode, Enabling Kozhikode, Happy Hill, and Nammude Kozhikode. Over 32 batches and more than 450 interns have contributed significantly to Kozhikode's socio-economic progress.

 

DCIP interns have also played critical roles during crises such as the Nipah outbreak, Kerala floods, and the COVID-19 pandemic, augmenting relief and rehabilitation efforts led by the district administration. These experiences showcase the program's commitment to creating a compassionate and resilient civil society.

 

Focus Areas:
Interns contribute to areas such as:

  • Community Engagement

  • Social Justice

  • Anti-Drugs Campaigns

  • Women Empowerment

  • Differently-Abled Empowerment

  • Tribal Development

They also work on developing citizen-centric governance, accelerating public participation, creating technological solutions, and evaluating ongoing projects.

 

Eligibility:

  • Completed an undergraduate/bachelor's degree in any stream by June 2026.

  • Availability for full-time participation from July 2026 to October 2026, with no other professional commitments.
